Hajia Abibata Shanni, the party’s parliamentary candidate for the Yendi constituency, has requested that the National Executive Council (NEC) of the NPP organize fresh elections.
This follows the chaos that marked the constituency’s election on January 27.
The CEO of MASLOC has also encouraged the NPP’s top authority, the National Executive Council, to declare the elections “null and void.”
The appeal includes video footage of the chaos that marked the elections in her constituency.
Additionally, Hajia Abibata has requested that the NEC prevent Mr. Mahama, the current MP, from claiming to be the constituency’s MP-elect.
Drawing from the evidence presented in the petition, Hajia Abibata is requesting of NEC the following:
Hold that NPP Parliamentary Primaries of the Yendi Constituency held in Yendi on the 27th of January 2024 were tainted with substantial irregularities, violations, infractions and therefore lost its validity.
Declare that the 2024 NPP Parliamentary Primaries of the Yendi Constituency held ni Yendi on the 27th of January 2024 as null, void and of no effect whatsoever.
In opposition to the long-standing democratic tradition of our great party and the desires of the delegates and party members in Yendi, there appears to be a grand ploy by certain party officers to collude with election officials and the incumbent MP to rig the elections in favor of the incumbent MP.
The main players in the scheming were Mr. Fusheini Bawah Kpana, the regional Research and Elections Officer; Mr. Mohammed Adam Bantima Samba, the Northern Regional Chairman; some members of the Party Elections Committee; and Alhaji Salifu Rashid C.O.P., the Northern Regional Organiser, Alhaji Yussif Toyibu, the Regional Treasurer.
