The Omanahene of the Dormaa Traditional Area also the Bono regional house of Chiefs president, Osagyefo Agyenam Badu II and also the guest speaker of the third edition of Meko Bono 2024 says, the people of the Bono are typical Akans. He explains further that, in the year, 1600 there was only the Bono state or kingdom representing the Akan. The Bono people migrated from the Old Ghana Empire. So before 1600, there wasn’t any Akan tribe apart from the Bono representing the Akan ethnic group. Bono is synonymous with Akan and Akan was Bono before 1600. Oasgyefo says, it is historic and cannot be changed for any reason. He said this during the third edition of the Meko Bono ceremony in Techiman of the Bono East region.
