Prominent personalities in Ghana will lose over 80% of cattle in Ghana when there is a bye-law to stop cattle rearing in Ghana. Ahmed Barry says addressing of cattle issue should not be channeled to the poor Fulani who is mainly caretaker.
Ahmed Barry, the National organizer of the Fulani community who is also the national youth president of the Fulani association in Ghana said this at Ahiayemu in the Nkoranza South of the Bono East region when the community waged war on the Fulani for allowing their cattle to feed on their farm produce.
The national Fulani youth President, Ahmed Barry, however, condemned the Fulani herdsmen for their failure to control their cattle. He was accompanied by the hon Issah Adams, the assemblyman of the Techiman Kenten electoral area for a peaceful settlement at the Ahiayemu Palace.
Hon Issah Adams says the major key players in cattle rearing are the traditional chiefs, MMDCEs, MPs, and other prominent Ghanaians. He explained that None of them employs their relatives to take care of their cattle.
He says there is the need to find a lasting solution to deal with the cattle issue than always apportioning the blame on the poor herdsmen.
One of the concerned citizens at Ahiayemu, Adu Darko says the people of Ahayemu mainly farmers now buy foodstuff from other communities due to the cattle challenged.
He says they will no longer welcome new herdsmen at Ahiayemu.
The Bono East regional minister, hon Kwasi Adu Gyan’s delegation said, they would ensure that food security at Ahiayemu is met. They strongly cautioned the Fulani herdsmen to have total control over the animals.
The minister’s delegation assured to return within the shortest possible time to find a lasting solution to the cattle issues at the Ahiayemu and its catchment area.
