Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi finally broke his silence over the recent controversy regarding his suspension, saying that he was of the idea that after the Lorient game, the players were supposed to have a day off and that\u2019s why he travelled to Saudi.<\/p>\n

The Barcelona-bound forward\u00a0was suspended for two weeks by the French champions\u00a0for missing training on Monday as he travelled to Saudi Arabia. As a result, fans went on a protest not only against Messi but also capitalized on the given opportunity to raise their voice against the board and Neymar.<\/p>\n

In an Instagram video, he explained:\u00a0\u201cI wanted to make this video because of what is happening.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cFirst of all, obviously I apologise to my teammates and the club. I honestly thought that we were going to have free time after the game as it had been happening in the previous weeks.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI had organised this trip to [Saudi] Arabia that I had previously cancelled and I couldn\u2019t [this time around]. I repeat, I apologise for what I did and I\u2019m waiting for what the club decides,\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>he added.<\/p>\n

As a result of this incident, Messi\u2019s relationship with the board as well as the fans has been tarnished. The 35-year-old ends his contract with the Ligue 1 side at the end of the season and it has been claimed\u00a0that he will leave the team for sure. And although his next destination is expected to Barcelona, nothing is concrete at the moment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
