Dooce.com founder Heather Armstrong, who started one of the first mother blogs, has died at the age of 47, according to an Instagram post on her account.<\/p>\n

\u201cHeather Brooke Hamilton aka Heather B. Armstrong aka dooce aka the love of my life. July 19, 1975 \u2014 May 9, 2023. \u2018It takes an ocean not to break.\u2019 Hold your loved ones close and love everyone else,\u201d the post on Instagram reads.<\/p>\n

Leta, 19, and Marlo, 14, as well as her ex-husband Jon Armstrong and her partner Pete Ashdown were left to carry on without her. An inquiry for a remark was not immediately answered by Jon Armstrong. In response to a comment on Instagram questioning the accuracy of the news, he wrote, \u201cAfraid so.\u201d Armstrong\u2019s suicide was confirmed by Ashdown to The Associated Press. He did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n

Armstrong, formerly known as the \u201cQueen of the Mommy Bloggers,\u201d became well-known when Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, and other social media platforms first came into existence.<\/p>\n

She was one of the original \u201cinfluencers\u201d and set the road for many more women to come after her. She launched a blog in 2001, and due to her candor, she quickly became well-known.<\/p>\n

She discussed her experiences having sex and leaving the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as well as the highs and lows of raising her daughters. In 2009, Armstrong was named by Forbes as one of the most influential women in journalism; at the time, her blog had an average audience of 300,000.<\/p>\n

In an April 15, 2012, interview with TODAY\u2019s Savannah Guthrie, Armstrong said she was \u201creally scared\u201d to share the news of her divorce from her husband.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of people bring their own perspective and experience to something like this, and I didn\u2019t know if talking about it was going to destroy everything,\u201d Armstrong said at the time. \u201cI thought I had to talk about it because I felt inauthentic not to share what was going on because I\u2019ve been so open about my life for almost 11 years.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
