Professor Frimpong-Boateng, a former Minister of Environment, Science, and Technology, admitted in an interview that he is a victim.<\/p>\n

He claims that the Office of the Special Prosecutor\u2019s invitation to him is an effort to demonize him.<\/p>\n

After being detained, he was given a GHS 2 million bail.<\/p>\n

The cardiac surgeon claimed that although he has been treated unfairly, he has stayed committed to the work he conducted in an interview with Joy News.<\/p>\n

Given his unselfish efforts for the nation, he claimed to be shocked by the treatment he received.<\/p>\n

He insisted that the report he wrote, which has caused controversy, still contains the truth.<\/p>\n

As the Chairman of the Inter-ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining, Prof. Frimpong-Boateng said that he saw nothing wrong with his prior actions, and as a result, his arrest by the Special Prosecutor surprised him.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cI think so,\u201d when asked if he felt victimized. What did I do wrong in this nation? This nation wouldn\u2019t be the way it is if only 0.001% of individuals behaved in the same way as me.<\/p>\n

Others who currently hold positions of power or influence in this nation should be aware that they will eventually be held accountable for their actions as well, he continued.<\/p>\n

Professor Frimpong-Boateng added that after receiving the Special Prosecutor\u2019s invitation, he spoke with some senior members of the ruling New Patriotic Party, who urged him to accept the offer.<\/p>\n

He claimed that although there was a plan in place to deal with illicit mining, people had failed to look into it and were instead out to demonize him.<\/p>\n
