According to the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), if student debts are not paid off right away, students run the danger of delaying their coursework.<\/p>\n

This comes after NUGS got numerous complaints from students across the nation about the non-payment of student loans despite lengthy application processes.<\/p>\n

Dennis Appiah Larbi Ampofo, the president of NUGS, released a statement on Sunday, February 26, 2023, urging students who are loan recipients or who have submitted to \u201ccalm down.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is unfortunate to also note that the last semester arrears have also not been paid, this is a huge problem in the face of the current situation in the country with students facing inability to register and continue their academic activity\u201d they stated in a statement to the media.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the moment, about 70,000 students have applied,\u201d it stated.<\/p>\n

It said that some institutions had sent out notifications to students warning them of the approaching limit for registering for classes for the recently started academic year.<\/p>\n

NUGS, therefore, called on the \u201cStudent Loan Trust Fund and the Government, also, as a matter of urgency, pay qualified applicants for the student loan immediately.\u201d<\/p>\n
