Ghana\u2019s southern power distribution company, Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) will, from July 11, 2023, embark on what it describes as \u2018Operation Zero\u2019 to recover payment for outstanding electricity bills. The exercise is expected to last for about three months.<\/p>\n
In a statement issued Tuesday, July 4, 2023, the power distributor said \u2018Operation Zero\u201d would be assisted by security agencies who would apprehend and prosecute customers who would attempt to interfere with the exercise.<\/p>\n
The ECG said its staff would take the opportunity to visit all households to capture consumers who are not in their database and bill them instantly via the ECG digital customer platform.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring this special exercise, ECG will grant a moratorium to all who are consuming electricity without paying for it to allow them to visit their respective ECG offices for immediate regularization of their supply. ECG pleads with customers who have not yet received their bills to pay on account to be credited accordingly.\u201d<\/p>\n
Given the exercise, ECG said its regional and district offices would operate with a lean staff pool that would provide essential services to customers to enable total participation by top management and staff.<\/p>\n
