The Minority Members of Parliament have given notice that they will abstain from taking part in House proceedings while James Gyakye Quayson, the MP for Assin North, is in court.<\/p>\n

The Minority Leader, Cassiel Ato Forson, stated in Parliament on Tuesday (4 July 2023) that Quayson\u2019s criminal prosecution is unfair after Quayson was sworn in.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wish to serve notice that the entire Minority group will accompany our colleague to court today and any other day that he is to appear in court,\u201d Ato Forson said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMr Speaker, we are solid arising with our colleague, and we will not participate in the business of the House any time our colleague is in court, and we\u2019ll be withdrawing from the chamber after this ceremony if the court processes indeed happen today,\u201d Dr Forson stated.<\/p>\n

Quayson was sworn into office by Alban Bagbin, Speaker of the House, in front of lawmakers.<\/p>\n

Prior to that, Bagbin welcomed Quayson to Parliament and recognized a confirmation letter from the Electoral Commission.<\/p>\n

Chiefs from the Assin North Traditional Council, the National Democratic Congress flagbearer John Dramani Mahama, the NDC chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, and other party officials were there with the MP for Assin North.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
