According to Bullet, the similarity in style between Wendy Shay and Ebony’s songs is a result of Bullet’s songwriting.<\/p>\n
He noted that although the artists came to him performing in various musical genres, the songs he wrote for them had an impact on their style.<\/p>\n
“Ebony was a rap artist and a soul vocalist when she came to me, but the songs you heard from her are not in those genres. The songs “Hustle,” “Maame Hwe,” and “Kupe” were all composed by me,” he said to Lexis Bill on Drive Time on Joy FM on Monday.<\/p>\n
He highlighted how his creative approach transformed Ebony’s musical genre from rap and soul to dancehall and hiplife.<\/p>\n
No matter how much I try to swerve, it will always have that Bullet touch to it because it is the style I established, the artist manager continued.<\/p>\n
Wendy Shay has drawn criticism from many for emulating the late Ebony’s musical, dress, and even stage presence.<\/p>\n
Comparison<\/b><\/p>\n
However, Wendy Shay, in an interview on Hitz FM in 2018, said she understands the comparison between herself and the late singer which is mainly because they are from the same label.<\/p>\n
\u201cObviously there\u2019s going to be a comparison. It\u2019s normal. I need the time to clear it off their eyes. I am not pressuring that at all. If they see my hard work and agenda, they will appreciate me for who I am,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
