The CEO of the Tree Crops Development Authority of Ghana, Hon William Agyapong Quaittoo says, it is by law and also mandatory that, all cashew business partners register with TCDA before the 2024 cashew season commences. He says anyone found guilty will face prosecution. He said this at their end-of-the-year meeting held at Techiman-Bamiri in the Bono East region.<\/p>\n

The meeting was well attended by the farmers, buyers, aggregators and exporters, including the Chinese and the Indians, who are the main players in the cashew industry.<\/p>\n
The CEO says a five-year strategic framework (2022\u20132027) to improve policy and regulatory environments conducive to leveraging public and private sector investments to stimulate inclusive and sustainable growth in the tree crop sub-sector.<\/p>\n

The former deputy agriculture minister, William Agyapong, pleaded with farmers to produce quality cashew seeds to attract the standards of the international market. The CEO Hon Agyapong says it was quite unfortunate that the cashew price in the later part of 2023 declined due to the poor quality of cashew seeds.<\/p>\n

The CEO Hon William Agyapong Quaittoo in his address says TCDA has experts who are going around to educate cashew farmers on methods to adapt to come out with quality cashew seeds to recapture the first spot again.<\/p>\n
Ghana’s cashew nut exports were worth little more than $300 million in US dollars in 2022. It’s another record-high value, although it is lower than the year before. The export value increased from over 230 million US dollars to approximately 390 million US dollars between 2016 and 2017, which was the steepest jump.<\/p>\n

The chairman of the Cashew Traders and Exporters Association of Techiman, Mumuni Issah, speaking to the Nkyeremu News pleaded with all cashew players to get registered he urged the farmers to produce quality products.<\/p>\n
