4. Ice Packs: To relieve swelling, especially in cases of massive haemorrhoids causing excruciating pain, use ice packs or cold packs to the anal area for 15 to 20 minutes at a time. The ice pack should always be covered with a cloth or paper towel before being applied to the skin. Frozen substances should never be applied topically.<\/p>\n
