To prevent the technical difficulties that certain voting areas experienced during the current district-level elections from occurring during the general elections in 2024, former President John Dramani Mahama has instructed the Electoral Commission (EC) to be well-organized in the 2024 elections.<\/p>\n
He claims that because the national elections, presidential and parliamentary polls, are more sensitive, the commission needs to work hard to avoid any technical difficulties.<\/p>\n
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, speaking to reporters on Tuesday, December 19, after casting his ballot in the ongoing district-level elections in Bole, remarked, “Unfortunately, I hear there are glitches in many places.” We all know national, presidential, and parliamentary elections are more sensitive, so I’m hoping the European Commission will pull itself together. If there are any technical difficulties on December 7, 2024, there will be a great deal of pandemonium, so the EC needs to pull together.<\/p>\n
In some Electoral areas in the Eastern Region, the commission has delayed the district-level elections for Thursday, December 21.<\/p>\n
This is because there were some technical issues at the beginning of the voting on Tuesday, December 19.<\/p>\n
The commission promised that voters in the impacted areas will cast their ballots on the revised date.<\/p>\n
The commission asked every Ghanaian to participate in the exercise to the fullest.<\/p>\n
On Monday, December 18, the Commission Chair, Mrs Jean Adukwei Mensa, told the media in Accra, “History over the years indicates that voter turnout is low for this election.” Let’s give this election some significance.<\/p>\n
“As citizens, we should have a voice and a stake in whoever brings development to our various districts, as we are all aware that developments begin at the district level.”<\/p>\n
Dan Botwe, the Minister of Local Government, Decentralization, and Rural Development, also similarly appealed to Ghanaians.<\/p>\n
