For the sake of Ghanaians and the government, Samuel Atta Akyea, the Member of Parliament for Akim Abuakwa South, has encouraged Ken Ofori-Atta, the Finance Minister, to resign. The nation’s persistent economic problems have been the driving force behind the mounting calls for Ofori-Atta’s resignation over the past few years.<\/p>\n
Particularly outspoken, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused the Finance Minister over and again of being to blame for the present budgetary problems.<\/p>\n
Tuesday, January 16, at Face to Face, Mr. Atta-Akyea stressed the value of self-evaluation for Mr. Ofori-Atta, advising him to consider his position for both his own and the ruling New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) well-being.<\/p>\n
“I find it quite problematic because a huge army of people tells you that enough is enough.That seems like a possible technique for him to unwind. One individual looks at all the burdens he has. Therefore, it is up to him to decide for himself whether to go.<\/p>\n
Atta-Akyea continued, saying that Ofori-Atta’s resignation would even help to settle things down for the country and the government.<\/p>\n
“He needs to examine himself and the problems that everyone feels exist; only when he is gone will there be harmony in the country. Mr. Atta Akyea stated, “He needs peace, so he should save himself, save the government, and have it.”<\/p>\n
Mr. Atta Akyea also aimed at those who attribute the nation’s economic problems to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.<\/p>\n
He said that while the economy is not doing well, it is “cruel” and “unkind” for anyone to blame Dr Bawumia for the economic problems facing the Akufo-Addo administration.<\/p>\n
Mr. Atta Akyea said that the vice president was preventing him from making some critical decisions for the nation because of a very significant adversarial role.<\/p>\n
