The Jaman South cashew farmers and buyers association has condemned the five cedis decided by the government as the fixed buying price of cashew for the 2021 season.<\/p>\n

The farmers claimed the 5 Ghana cedis for one kilo is too meagre for the start since the price is likely to decline when the quality of the cashew drops.<\/p>\n

The chairman of the Jaman south cashew farmers, buyers and exporters, Asante Williams known as Daddy speaking to the Nkyeremu news team pleaded with the government to increase the price.<\/p>\n

He said in 2016 and 2017 cashew was selling between 8-9 cedis for one kilo. The chairman indicated that, at every cashew season a kilo was selling above 6 Ghana cedis.<\/p>\n

He said this during their first meeting held in Japekrom of the Jaman south.<\/p>\n

The general secretary of the association, Nana Asomah Yeboah hinted that, buying of the cashew from the bush is not the job for foreigners. He stressed that it is solely for Ghanaian people.<\/p>\n

Nana Asomah said the involvement of foreigners buying cashew from the bush will definitely kill Ghanaian business and shouldn’t be encouraged.<\/p>\n
