Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has finally blamed traditional chiefs for championing the galamey activities in Ghana. Otumfuo II, in his press release, said there are no galamsey boys who can have the concession to operate illegal mining. He said the politicians team up with the landowners who are the traditional leader to destroy the water bodies across the country.
Otumfuo has strongly cautioned all chiefs from making any further attempt to release any piece of land under his jurisdiction for mining. Otumfuo has urged all chiefs in the Ashanti region to immediately help curb the menace of the galamsey activities.
He said without a halt to the illegal mining, Ghana cannot boast of a single river in the next few years to come. He said it is sad all the rivers and forest reserves in the country are being destroyed in the name of mining which only profits a few hands of Ghanaians whilst the rest of the people suffer.
