According to Justin Kodua Frimpong, the general secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), the party is happy with the current performance of the member of parliament for the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency, Adwoa Safo.

He stated that since Sarah Adwoa Safo promptly apologized, the incident involving her and the party is now in the past.

The NPP General Secretary addressed TV3’s Keminni Amanor on Sunday, saying, “Yes, issues happened in the past and she came back to apologise to the party, and now I can tell you that she is doing her work as Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya.”

Therefore, as far as the party is concerned, we are happy with her current performance as a member of parliament at this time.

A parliamentary investigation was initiated in 2021 as a result of Adwoa Safo’s more than year-long absence from Parliament. The Speaker has not yet rendered a decision on the Privileges Committee’s 2022 report submission.

After the former Deputy Majority Leader expressed regret to the party’s grassroots for her absence, many supporters—especially those in the NPP—began to call for her dismissal.

In a Twi video broadcast that was uploaded to Facebook on Thursday, September 14, Ms. Adwoa Safo said, “I take this opportunity in the name of God to beg you all.”

“My national chairman, General Secretary, and your executives, as well as the executives of my constituency, headed by Chairman Bonsu, and the New Patriotic Party headquarters,

“I beg you all, supporters and sympathizers who adore the party, adore me, and have a great deal of faith in my constituency. Whatever happened, please pardon my transgressions.

“Everything” between the NPP and the former Minister of Gender, Children, and Social Protection, according to Mr. Kodua Frimpong, is good.

He does, however, maintain that in February 2024, the delegates will have the last word.

“The people in her constituency will make the final decision because internal party elections will take place at the end of the day and the issues that occurred belong in the past.”

He acknowledged that the party’s fortunes, particularly in Parliament, were negatively impacted by the events that transpired during Adwoa Safo’s absence, but added, “now everything is fine.”
