The Chief of Mesedan in the Techiman North of the Bono East region, also a Board Member of the Ghana Trade Fair Company Limited, Nana Twi Brempong, has attributed the decline of Ghanaian culture to the adoption of Western influences. Nana said attacks on social media, television, and public platforms by the youth should not be entertained. Nana Twi Brempong was speaking to Nkyeremu News during their Oyoko Royal Family Yam Festival celebration.

Nana Brempong explained that Western culture has played a deceptive role, leading Africans away from their rich heritage, especially the traditional respect once accorded to leaders and people in authority. He emphasised that this cultural shift has affected community cohesion and respect for traditional institutions.

As a dedicated leader, the Mesedan chief has been actively involved in several community development projects. His initiatives include improving health services, enhancing communication infrastructure, providing access to clean water, and establishing a gari factory to support local economic growth. These efforts have significantly contributed to the welfare of his community.

One of Nana Twi Brempong’s most notable achievements is the development of the Oyoko Royal Palace. Under his stewardship, the palace has not only been preserved but transformed into a major tourist attraction, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the area. The palace now serves as a cultural centre that draws visitors, fostering tourism and cultural pride.

Nana Brempong also stressed that leadership effectiveness is not measured by income but by how resources are utilised for the benefit of the people. He believes responsible management and development are key to preserving culture and promoting sustainable growth in Ghanaian communities.

Nana Twi Brempong, the Mesedan chief, assured that the road linking Buoyam and Techiman will be repaired under the leadership of President John Mahama and Hon. Member of Parliament Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare. The chief highlighted that this development will improve transportation and boost economic activities in the community. Nana Brempong also cautioned the youth to take their education seriously and avoid all forms of drug abuse. He emphasised that commitment to studies and a drug-free lifestyle are essential for the future success and development of the younger generation in Mesedan.

In conclusion, the Mesedan chief calls on Ghanaians, especially those in leadership positions, to respect and promote their indigenous culture rather than undermining it through negative attacks. He urges a return to core African values that honour authority, tradition, and community development for a stronger cultural identity and brighter future.
