The union of Mr Evans Donkor, known as the “Dollar Man” and Director of Paint Ghana Company Limited, to Flight Lieutenant Maame Adwoa Kwartemaa Kwarten was celebrated with grandeur at the Hansua Palace in Techiman, Bono East Region. Both hailed from indigenous royal families, which enriched the occasion with deep cultural significance and attracted a large gathering in the impressive Hansua Palace Hall.

The marriage ceremony was a quintessential Ghanaian traditional wedding, showcasing the beauty and solemnity of customary rites. Family elders from both sides performed the customary libation pouring, paying homage to ancestors and seeking blessings for the couple’s prosperous future. The bride and groom exchanged symbolic gifts, including kente cloth and jewellery, in a ritual that affirmed respect and bonded the families.

Following the traditional rites, prayers and blessings from Christian ministers marked the spiritual union, reflecting Ghana’s rich blend of cultural and religious values. This blend symbolised not only the couple’s commitment to each other but also their faith and the community’s endorsement.

The reception that followed was a joyous feast featuring local delicacies, including regional foods, rice balls, assorted meats, and a variety of traditional drinks. The lively ambience was intensified by drumming and dancing, a hallmark of Ghanaian celebrations, allowing guests to partake in both merriment and cultural expression.

This wedding at Hansua Palace was more than a formal ceremony; it was a vivid demonstration of how Ghana upholds its heritage through marriage—the intertwining of families, blessings from ancestors and God, and joyful community fellowship. Dollar Man and Flight Lieutenant Maame Adwoa’s union thus reinforces the importance of tradition and spirituality in Ghanaian weddings while celebrating love within the bonds of culture and royalty.
