The founders of FrankMay New Life Foundation Children’s Home, Mary Wuntimah Ali and her husband Francis Apuse, continue to transform lives nearly two decades after establishing the orphanage in 2007. Located in Techiman, in the Bono East region, the home provides shelter, three square meals, education, healthcare, and skill development for orphans, abandoned children, and vulnerable children from infancy to the tertiary level. The director of the FrankMay New Life Foundation, Francis Apuse, gave a sermon for the day.
The couple has raised hundreds of children in dire need, with over ten now gainfully employed after earning their first degrees, including teachers, nurses, and more. What sets FrankMay apart from other orphanages across Ghana is its nurturing environment, fostering of talents, proper care, and unity that make them feel at home. The home’s non-discriminatory approach targets kids from remote villages orphaned by accidents and parental incapacity.
At the end of each year, Mary Wuntimah Ali organises heartwarming Christmas gifts for people with physicaldisabilities in the Bono East Region, distributing rice, biscuits, soft drinks, toilet paper, and more to 60-150 people. During a recent event, the founders commended consistent donors, including those who supported in kind and with cash. Representing GoldBod CEO Sammy Gyamfi, Micky Charles presented food items and an undisclosed amount of money to support the home.
Earlier, First Lady Lordina Mahama, as is customary, made her annual presentation through Bono East Regional Minister Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi, reinforcing the orphanage’s vital role. These gestures highlight FrankMay’s reputation as an outstanding facility, praised by social welfare for its comprehensive care amid Techiman’s challenges, such as child neglect and poverty.
Mary Wuntimah Ali, the CEO, pleaded with Ghanaians and the government to increase support, enabling the home to expand capacity and benefit more needy children. “We urge collaboration to reach beyond our current limits,” the home has stated, with a 50-bedroom storey block near completion. Techiman, FrankMay remains a beacon of hope, proving private initiative can bridge gaps in public welfare.
