Members of the TI Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in the Sunyani West Circuit congregation, led by Muallim Zakariyya Adam, have issued a fervent plea urging the United States and Israel to halt their ongoing military attacks on Iran. The call came at the conclusion of a 30-day fasting period and special prayers aimed at ending the escalating conflict, which has already claimed the lives of innocent civilians, including mothers and children.

In a gathering at the Sunyani West Mission in Ghana’s Bono Region, Muallim Adam emphasised the spiritual power of prayer, stating it can thwart “any spiritual attacks, including missiles and bombs.” He urged the congregation to maintain holiness post-Ramadan, reminding them that “prayer has no end since every day brings new challenges.” Adam also stressed the Islamic virtue of charity, rooted in the faith, encouraging continued giving, as “givers have more rewards ahead.”

The US and Israel intensified airstrikes on Iran last month, targeting nuclear facilities and military sites in Tehran and Natanz following Iran’s missile barrages on Israeli cities. Officially, the attacks aim to dismantle Iran’s nuclear program and proxy networks like Hezbollah, amid accusations of Iran arming attacks on US bases in the Middle East. Casualties have mounted, with Iranian state media reporting over 200 civilian deaths, including women and children in residential areas hit by precision strikes. This is unfortunate!

This war’s ripple effects extend far beyond Iran, threatening global stability. Oil prices have surged since hostilities began, driving up fuel costs worldwide and risking a recession in import-dependent nations like Ghana. Supply chain disruptions have hiked food and commodity prices, exacerbating inflation in Africa and Asia. Even the US and Israel face blowback: American troops in Syria and Iraq endure retaliatory strikes, while Israel’s economy strains under missile defenses costing billions. Cyberattacks linked to Iran have targeted US infrastructure, and heightened tensions raise nuclear escalation fears.

“The conflict harms everyone; no victor emerges from such devastation,” Muallim Adam said, calling for divine intervention and diplomatic peace. As prayers continue, the congregation hopes that their spiritual stance inspires global leaders to de-escalate tensions before irreversible damage occurs.
