The Omanhene of Nkoranza Traditional Area, Nana Kwame Baffoe IV, has issued a passionate call to Ghanaian authorities to intensify efforts in preserving the nation’s rich cultural heritage, which he warned is gradually fading away. Speaking during a significant traditional ceremony, Nana Baffoe emphasised the pivotal role of culture in fostering unity and resolving disputes among communities. “Our rich Ghanaian culture teaches moral rites and traditions that bind us together,” he stated, urging Ghanaians in the diaspora to return in large numbers for this year’s Munufies Festival. He encouraged them to immerse themselves in these traditions and pass them on to their children, ensuring the legacy endures for future generations.
The Paramount Chief also addressed pressing developmental challenges in Nkoranza. He called for increased education funds to support needy students in pursuing degrees and doctorates, highlighting the need for better school infrastructure. Nana Baffoe decried the poor state of roads and inadequate health facilities, appealing to authorities for urgent interventions. To boost employment, he advocated large-scale community farming initiatives that could transform the local economy.
In a moment of gratitude, Nana Kwame Baffoe IV praised the youth and the people of Nkoranza for their overwhelming support during his enstoolment. He singled out Nick Danso Abbeam for his “spectacular role” in the process, commending his contributions to the traditional leadership transition.
The atmosphere at the ceremonial grounds reached a fever pitch with the grand arrival of Osagyefo Agyeman Badu, Omanhene of Dormaa Ahenkro, accompanied by his entourage. Their presence electrified the crowd, changing the entire mood of the event and underscoring the spirit of chieftaincy unity.
Nana Baffoe urged all chiefs and residents to attend his coronation in large numbers, reinforcing the communal bonds that define Nkoranza’s traditions. The Munufies Festival, a cornerstone of Nkoranza’s cultural calendar, promises to be a vibrant celebration of heritage, development, and solidarity this year.
