Reading helps you learn new things, sharpen your vocabulary and memory, and increase your attention and concentration, among other advantages. Many claim that they wish they had more time to read regularly but are unable to do so. At one point in my life, I was one of those folks. I’ve employed a variety of strategies to increase my reading and create a regular reading routine. These are listed below. What has denied many from reading goggles and other devices.

Making a list of books you want to read is a great place to start, in my opinion. You may make a list of books you need to read to learn more about a subject or area of study you are interested in, or you could make a list of novels you’ve always wanted to read but never got around to. In addition to making lists yourself, you can utilize lists made by others. Le Monde’s 100 Books of the Century and the Modern Library’s 100 Best Novels are two well-known lists. Online, there are a plethora of diverse listings available. GoodReads.com is an excellent place to locate reading lists.

Setting a goal is a smart way to encourage yourself to read more. For instance, you may resolve to read a specific amount of books this year or a specific number of pages every day, and then you may focus on accomplishing that goal. The Bookly app and the GoodReads.com Reading Challenge are two resources that can assist you in reaching your reading objectives.

Make time in your schedule to read.

You must plan reading time into your day if you want to ensure that you read every day. You may read before bed, on your commute, at lunch, or even first thing in the morning.

Locating a comfortable reading space is something that will encourage you to read more. Ideally, this should be a peaceful location free from outside disturbances. You may read on a park bench, in your bed, on a cozy chair or sofa, and of course, in the library.

Get rid of distractions

Turn off the TV and put your smartphone on silent to remove any distractions that might be preventing you from reading.

Even while reading passively is preferable to reading nothing at all, I strongly advise you to attempt reading actively. “Read actively” refers to engaging with the material, making notes and annotations in a separate notebook or on the margins of the book, and thinking critically about the portions you find fascinating or significant. Use the highlighting and note-taking tools on your smartphone or ebook reader as you’re reading.

You should try reading actively, even though passive reading is still preferable to not reading at all. “Read actively” is to give your reading some thought, underline parts that you find fascinating or significant, and make notes and comments in a separate notebook or on the margins of the book. Make use of the highlighting and note tools on your smartphone or ebook reader if you are reading on one of these devices.

Always keep some reading material on hand, whether it’s an e-book on your smartphone or an e-book reader or a physical book. In this manner, you can read whenever you have free time. This enables you to read during your brief breaks during the day rather than browsing through your Instagram or Facebook feed.

It’s not necessary to finish every book you start. Simply put the book down and pick up another if it’s uninteresting or not what you expected it to be. I find that the 50-page rule is a useful guideline to follow. I always read a book through to the first fifty pages. I simply give up and turn to a new book if, after 50 pages, I still don’t love it.

Replacing other sources of pleasure with reading is a smart approach to increase your reading habits. For instance, read a book in instead of watching TV or movies, playing video games, or aimlessly perusing Instagram’s Explore page. You’ll be able to read many more books each year as a result.

Read more than one book at once.

Reading many novels at once is something I enjoy doing. I simply go on to a new book if I am tired of one or want a change of pace. Reading one fiction book and one non-fiction book simultaneously is an excellent approach to this.

Find a companion to read with.

To assist you hold yourself accountable to your reading objectives, you can also find a reading buddy. This might be a coworker, a friend, or your significant other. Together, you can begin reading the same book and then, as you go along, or after you’ve both finished it, discuss it.

With any luck, these pointers will encourage you to read more and make it a regular habit. Go read a book now!
