The head of the Sisirease family in Wenchi, Nana Kwadwo Yeboah, has strongly rejected a claim by the Omanhene of the Wenchi Traditional Council, Osagyefo Ampem Anye Amoampong Tabrako, that the traditional council owns the family’s ancestral lands.

Speaking to Nkyeremu News, Nana Yeboah said no previous paramount chief of Wenchi had claimed ownership of the Sisirease family’s lands. He therefore described the recent claim as unacceptable and urged all parties to handle the matter with caution to protect the peace and unity of the community.

Nana Kwadwo Yeboah explained that any disagreement between himself and Nana Akora Tuah, the Sisirease family’s Twafohene, was personal and should not be linked to the ownership or administration of the family’s lands.

He further declared the family’s continued support for Nana Akora Tuah to remain in his position as Twafohene. According to him, Nana Akora Tuah had played a central role in the family’s affairs and contributed significantly to its unity and development.

“Nana Akora Tuah has been a pillar of the family, and it would be ungrateful to deny the role he has played,” Nana Yeboah said.

He added that the Sisirease family had maintained a cordial relationship with the Omanhene until the recent publication, which he said had created tension among members of the traditional community.

Nana Akora Tuah, for his part, pledged to continue working to advance the Sisirease family. “I will lead my family to do all that I can to help build a better family,” he stated.

He also appealed to the Omanhene to come to the dialogue table to resolve the matter amicably. Nana Akora Tuah said constructive dialogue remained the best way to settle the disagreement and preserve peace within the Wenchi Traditional Council and the Sisirease family.

The acting president of the Techiman Traditional Area, Nana Owusu Gyare says, the theme for the 2024 Apour festival is peace. He praised the youth of the Adam Baptist church for organizing the peace talks ahead of the 2024 general elections.

The Techiman municipal superintendent of police, Emmanuel Ofori, in his address, pleaded with Ghanaians to show a decent character to ensure free and fair elections. He cautioned the youth not to be used for dirty work.

Both the NPP and the NDC communicators were present and talked about peace ahead of the 2024 general elections.

Interestingly, the place of worship turned to a dancing floor with high-life music.
