The minister for agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto has denied the Bono East region media during his tour in the region. Hon Owusu Afriyie came from Accra with his select media team and therefore neglected the media houses in the region that followed the president, Nana Akufo Addo, and Dr. Bawumia during the 2020 campaign tours.
The minister hired two mini-buses for his few media houses from Accra whilst some of the local media who needed the news at all cost had to manage their means of transport.
The accommodation and transport for his pressmen could have been used to fix more important issues in the MoFA ministry rather.
Had Ghanaian soon forgotten the former president, John Dramani Mahama’s media team that crashed and claimed one life and injured several journalists?
The Bono East RCC also failed to arrange a vehicle for the media. We were only instructed by the RCC to apply for accreditation from the regional MoFA office when it was 5.42 pm.
However, the relationship between the RCC and the Bono East media has been cordial until this unfortunate development.
Could the minister, Dr. Owusu Afriyie explain why he decided to convey his pressmen from Accra whilst the same trained journalists are in the Bono East region? Is this not wasting state resources?
Any minister who intends to use journalists of his choice is likely to limit his news items and will never know where he goes wayward.
