The incumbent NPP general secretary, John Boadu who went into a deep sleep and could not get the result right, asked whether the result that he heard was right or a dream.
One of his colleagues told him to fear the delegates. Hon John Boadu polled 2,524 out of the 2,556 total votes cast. The incoming general secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong had 2,837 votes cast.
