Today marks the birthday of the legendary, Shamo Quaye, well known as Shamo Leather.
In the 1990s, the rivalry between the Accra Heart of Oak’s top striker, Shamo Quaye, and Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s Joe Debrah was like comparing Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the Spanish La Liga.
Shamo Leather was born in 1971 and died in 1999. His untimely death shocked the entire Ghanaians. Shamo was one of the best strikers that has emerged in the Ghanaian premiership. He always scored against Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
