The expectation of the 2023 budget being read by the finance minister, Ken Ofori Atta was completely empty and hopeless. In his budget, he failed to address measures to sustain the dollar. It is the expectation of Ghanaians that the dollar keeps dropping drastically.
This can only happen when Ghana starts to go into the finished product and export, but he failed to talk about that. The same finance minister who refused to adhere to the sense from Ghanaians to reduce the E- levy has finally reduced it from 1.5 to 1 cedi. Is this not a shame?
Another expectation was to reintroduce the Toll -Booths to fetch some revenue and create some jobs for the street people, but nothing was heard on that too.
As Ghanaians are complaining about hardship, VAT has been increased from 19 to 21.5 being an increase of 2.5 percent. This means, commodities are going to increase again to worsen the plight of Ghanaians. All the same, he failed to talk about salary increase while several organizations are no strike.
Is this not an empty and hopeless budget?
