Every Ghanaian will highly welcome the scrap of ex-gratia, which contributes to the bribing of voters to win the election at all costs. Millions of cedis paid to the MPs, ministers, and some office holders as their ex-gratia in Ghana could have been utilized well for better things.
The idea by former president, John Mahama to scrap ex-gratia has been the expectation of most Ghanaians for a long time. Reducing the state ministers to 60 will be the best, provided when he is voted to power he will go by his words.
In fact, the salaries of the Ghana Cocoa Board and the SSNIT officials break hearts. There should be a big cut from their monthly earnings and fringe benefits. Scrapping of the ex-gratia will be a big move by the former president, John Dramani Mahama.
