Ahead of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary, there has been internal wrangling rocking the elephant party evident in recent happenings in the party.

From the foregoing, Yaw Buabeng Asamoah, a former NPP communications director and member of parliament for the Adentan district, has asserted that Vice President Mahamadu Bawumia is ineligible to be president.

The Vice President was charged with lacking his own policies by Mr Buabeng Asamoah, who is currently managing Alan Kyeremateng’s campaign.

In an interview with Okay FM, Buabeng Asamoah asserted that Dr Bawumia was not a member of the NPP and that he had only been invited to serve as Akufo-Addo’s running mate because of his knowledge of the economy.

Additionally, Mr Buabeng Asamoah insisted that the Vice President can never be President and denied ever favouring Dr Bawumia for the position of President. He claims that Alan Kyeremateng has worked hard for the NPP and that it is now time for him to show his commitment.

Mr Tetteh, who also happens to be the founder and leader of pressure group, Citizen Eye Ghana (CITEG) revealed that the present vice president of Ghana has lost touch with the core grassroots of the party.

In an interview on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia morning show, Mr Tetteh went as far as saying if Bawumia gets the nod ahead of his boss Kennedy Agyapong, he will kill himself by ingesting poison.

He believes that the vice president has failed to look out for their interests and is merely trying to pay his way through the election, thus NPP delegates have made it their mission to vote against him.

“The day that you see that delegates have elected Bawumia… I will drink poison and die. You will not hear me speak on the radio again.

Let the time come and we will see. You think you can just give someone money and go sit somewhere after four years then you come back to them? See how dejected NPP delegates have become despite their party being in power. It is as if they are rather in opposition,” he stated.
