
According to Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona have completed the signing of Inigo Martinez from Athletic Club on a free transfer.
The Spanish defender has been a top target for Barcelona for many months after being tipped to replace Gerard Piqué.
Romano adds that Martinez has already completed his Barca medicals weeks ago and his official announcement will come immediately La Liga give the green light to register him.
Martinez is already in his 30s, but he arrives with the quality of being a ruthless defender who’s also left-footed. Plus, he’s a highly experienced player.
This season, Martinez played 18 games for Bilbao, helping them keep five clean sheets in the process.
Besides Martinez, Barcelona are also hoping to get the nod from La Liga to register the contracts of Gavi, Marcos Alonso, Alejandro Balde and a few others.
