The Ghana Education Service (GES) has requested that all second-cycle school heads in the nation adhere to the harmonised prospectus that has been authorized for form 1 students.
The GES also reminded the heads of Second Cycle schools that it is against the law to distribute unapproved prospectuses and offer government-supplied goods to students.
The GES claims that it has become aware of allegations that some Heads of Second Cycle Schools across the nation are giving unapproved prospectuses to prospective students and selling some of the goods to those students as they arrive at their institutions to apply for admittance.
Some Heads are also marketing “items that are provided by the government to the students,” according to a GES statement written by Prince Charles Agyemang-Duah, Acting Director for the Schools and Instructions Division.
“Management of the Ghana Education Service takes strong exception to this practice, and wishes to state unequivocally that the practice is prohibited and must cease with immediate effect,” the statement said.
According to the statement, “Investigations will soon commence into the issues to ensure that the right things are done in our schools.”
“Any Head of school caught demanding any item (s) aside the approved ones will be severely sanctioned” the statement added.
