In the 2016 campaign, NPP said they would make cashew price fix like the cocoa in other to make the cashew industry in Ghana more attractive. This clearly shows that no association formed can make the cashew price fixed like cocoa.

It is the sole mandate for the government to fix the cashew price by buying rather than associations to decide a fixed price by individual companies, they can’t make it.

The destabilized prices of cashew is a big challenge for Ghanaian cashew farmers. It is time for the authorities of Ghanaians to stop long taking and paper works, Ghana needs a reality.

Planting for food and job creation is a good idea, but no positive impact. Farming inputs have increased by over 150 percent in less than four years. It was the time of planting for food and job creation era that a bag of maize shot to 600 cedis in Ghana. Is this not unprecedented?

Still, all perishable crops keep decaying, the few to mention are mangoes, tomatoes, oranges and notably, watermelon. What is the second phase of the planting for food and job creation bringing to the table?

Why should Ghana import vegetables from the neighbouring country? This is where the planting for food and job creation should be addressed. Ghana has the fertile land and constant rains than Burkiina Faso where Ghana imports vegetables and other crops. It is because Ghana lacks good leadership.

Cashew would have been one of the best investments in Ghana, but most farmers have regretted switching to it.

It is sad the dams in the northern region of Ghana dry up in the dry seasons where they are needed most. The idea should have been drawn to solar mechanized boreholes, which will serve for drinking for irrigation.

What is even the possibility for the poor farmer to tap the dam to his farm on the hilltop? Our leaders keep wasting money for their personal interests. Can the poor farmers buy bumping machines and fuel them to supply water to their farms?

Planting for food and job creation should have considered the drop in farm inputs and not increments.

Cashew farmers deserve better than being neglected by going into it. The government shouldn’t forget to arrange a fixed cashew price, since no company can do it.
