In Ghana, the OSP, an anti-corruption group, was established in 2017. The agency is in charge of looking into and prosecuting cases of corruption involving well-known individuals, especially public officials.
The FBI is the US government’s domestic security and intelligence organization. The organization is also in charge of investigating and prosecuting crimes involving bribery, financial fraud, and other offenses connected to corruption.
An important development in the OSP’s probe into Ms. Dapaah is the start of the parallel investigations into her and her associates.
Cecilia Dapaah and her husband have made news after reporting to the police that their housekeeper had taken some cash from their home.
They informed the police that their maid had taken approximately $1 million in cash out of their bedroom.
The police report states that the maid took jewelry, clothes, and some cash in Ghanaian cedis and euros.
Following the disclosure of the information, the OSP stepped in to investigate the source of the funds.
She is nonetheless asking for an interlocutory injunction to prevent the OSP from looking into and prosecuting her and her husband, Daniel Osei Kufuor, for alleged corruption.
