One cannot believe why Super TESS at 60 still faces unbearable, primitive and deteriorated toilet facilities that were used some decades back in rural communities. This is too bad and needs immediate attention before chronic disease hits the school. Nkyeremu News saw this as a challenge and emergency situation that needed an arrest.
The students of the school hinted to Nkyeremu News about this challenge during their just-ended colourful 60th-anniversary celebration. The school prefect, Simon Awini says the school has about 3,000 students population, out of that number, over 1,700 are boys who are compelled to use the available new toilets that can only contain 12 students at a time.
The rest of the students who have no other alternative endanger themselves on these two primitive toilets. Sadly, all the two toilets are filled up. What makes it more disheartening is that several portions of the toilets’ iron sheets are deteriorated by excessive heat from the toilet. One can smell the bad odour from 150 metres away, meaning, no one will be safe when airborne disease breaks up in the school.
Some master flats have also not seen any form of renovation, perhaps for decades. In spite of the challenges mentioned above, the school can boast of the best and largest dining hall. The entire front view and classroom blocks have seen a facelift.
It is good news to hear from the Bono East regional minister, Hon Adu Gyan who made a promise to provide the boys with a 12-seater WC toilet facility with a mechanized borehole. All the same, it will not be enough to serve 1,700 students.
The schoolboys’ prefect, Simon Awini pleads with the government, PTA and the old students of Super TESS to come to their aid.
Despite the challenges, Super TESS has one of the best anniversary celebrations.
