Bob Marley was a skilful footballer
There was always a football nearby for Bob Marley. He loved to kick around whenever he had the chance, be it before a show, in between studio sessions, or just hanging out in the park with his pals.
He was able to let go of his music and express his more competitive side thanks to the wonderful game.
Not only that, but he declared, “I love music before I love football,” in an interview from 1980. If football is my first love, then it can be risky. I adore football more than music. It’s risky to play football while singing because the game might perform songs about love, peace, and other positive things, and you never know what can happen. I perform songs about love, peace, and other positive things, and you never know what can happen. A man’s forceful tackle will make you feel like you’re in a war.”
Marley’s photographer and close friend Morris said to BBC Sport, “Watching him play football was magical.” Morris added, “I never really took photos of him while he played football because I just wanted to watch him play.” I would put the camera down at that point since that was his joy and the only time he had to unwind.”
Marley cheered for both the English team Tottenham Hotspur and the Brazilian team Santos FC. Ossie Ardiles, an Argentine midfielder for Spurs who joined the team in 1978, was a favourite player of the Three Little Birds vocalist.
The ‘Reggae Girlz’, the women’s national football team of Jamaica, created history in 2018 when they qualified for their first women’s football World Cup, which was played in France.
The financial support of Cedilla Marley, Bob’s daughter and the CEO of her late father’s record label and fashion designer, was largely responsible for that.
In 2014, she joined the Bob Marley Foundation as the team’s ambassador. When the team was having serious financial difficulties, she began to invest her funds.
