The Black Stars will go to the Ivory Coast for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, according to the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
The departure date was confirmed and Mohammed Kudus, a midfielder, received an update on his progress in recovering from a minor injury.
The GFA reports that Kudus has reached Accra and will meet the team before they depart for Abidjan. On Thursday, December 28, 2023, the midfielder suffered an injury while representing West Ham United against Arsenal in the Premier League.
He is still receiving therapy, and the medical staff of the Black Stars is keeping an eye on his development.
In their lone pre-tournament friendly, the Black Stars will take on Namibia on Monday night in Kumasi, where they have been camping since January 3, 2024.
In the AFCON 2023 group stage, Ghana is paired with Cape Verde, Egypt, and Mozambique. The competition is slated to happen in 2024 between January 13 and February 11.
