5th December 2024

The Chairman of the Techiman Municipal Security Council, MUSEC, in the Bono East region, Hon Benjamin Gyarko has pleaded with the security council, political parties and the media to act professionally in the 2024 general elections.  He pleaded with the Media to cross-check their facts and fingers before reporting.

The crucial meeting was attended by Traditional Chiefs, the Military, Immigration, Fire Service Officers, the National Intelligence Bureau, The Peace Council and the Media, among other personalities. The MCE pleaded with the people in the house not to hesitate to report any developments that may mar the beauty of the elections to him.

The Techiman Divisional Commander, ACP Regina Tengey promised to hold regular meetings with MUSEC and the media before the 7th December elections. She assures the house that the security will do everything possible to protect the ballot box before, during and after. She cautions the political parties to be extra careful since the security will not consider who party A or B is when misconducted.

ACP Regina Tengey explained further that it is not the security’s mandate to tell who qualifies to vote or who doesn’t meet the requirements. She said it is the EC’s mandate to decide.

The media complained about how the securities misconduct themselves to the media when exercising their duties at the polling station. Some said the freedom of the Media at some polling stations is restricted, these are polling stations where electoral fraud begins.

The Techiman Municipal Electoral Commission, William Bamfo Apori is very optimistic that the unfortunate incident that occurred in the 2020 election will not happen again. He says the EC and security have adopted measures to ensure a total free and fair election on the 7th of December. He pleaded with the media not to make any reports based on hearsay without a certified report from the EC.

The EC pleaded with the political parties to have lettered party representatives at all polling stations since elections are won at the polling stations. He says their offices are open for hearing and suggestions all working days.
