As international travel rebounds steadily in 2025, more passengers are prioritising comfort and affordability when booking their flights. Fortunately, several major airlines now offer travel on modern, comfort-enhanced aircraft at reasonable prices, especially for those booking within a three-month window.

A growing number of leisure and business travellers are beginning to identify that the type of aircraft used can significantly affect the flying experience. Two models, in particular, have become popular for their superior cabin environments: the Airbus A350 and the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. These aircraft are renowned for wider seats, better air quality, reduced noise levels, and larger windows — features that enhance passenger comfort even in economy class.

“I always check the aircraft type before booking,” says Linda Mensah, a frequent flyer between Accra and Dubai. “Once I flew on the A350, it was hard to go back to older models. The cabin felt spacious and quiet, and I arrived feeling far less tired.”

Among the airlines operating these aircraft types at fair prices are Qatar Airways, Ethiopian Airlines, Turkish Anes, and Emirates. These carriers frequently fly routes from Accra and other major African cities to global destinations, offering promotional fares when booked between one to three months in advance.

A recent fare analysis showed that flights from Accra to major cities like London, Dubai, Toronto, and Istanbul could be secured on these modern aircraft at fares ranging from $450 to $800, depending on the timing and route.

“Booking within a 90-day window gives travelers the best chance to combine affordable pricing with high-comfort aircraft,” said Joseph Owusu, a travel consultant in Accra. “You don’t have to pay business class rates to enjoy a peaceful, ergonomic ride.”

Experts recommend that passengers use flight comparison platforms like Google Flights, Skyscanner, or Kayak to track the type of aircraft scheduled for specific routes. These tools also allow flexible date searches — a major advantage for budget-conscious travellers looking to snag deals on premium aircraft.

Some African carriers, such as RwandAir and Kenya Airways, have also invested in next-generation aircraft like the Boeing 737 MAX and Dreamliners, raising the bar for regional travel comfort without inflating prices.

As travel demand surges, especially for summer and holiday periods, experts advise early booking to avoid last-minute price hikes and to ensure availability on the most comfortable aircraft options.
