Becom mushroom production centre in Techiman of the Bono East region is in negotiation agreement contract to export dried mushroom to the United State.
Bemcom Skills Training Center is the largest mushroom production and training facility in Ghana and West Africa. The training center which started in 2002 has trained thousands of people across the globe.
Bemcom Training Centre every year collaborates with their expert consultant partners in the US and Germany to usher refresher courses to their clients in Techiman.
Agricultural Colleges ,Valley View University, Sunyani Technical University, KNUST, among others use Bemcom center for their student’s internship programmes.
Bemcom has now moved from physical hand compost bagging to electronic device which now helps to produce 600 mushroom compost bags in an hour. In a week, the company produces over 5,000 to 10,000 compost bags for distribution.
Bemcom farms have advanced from hand seeds spore insertion to liquid spore injection. These new innovations have attracted one of the US mushroom processing company to sign a new contract agreement with Bemcom mushrooms farms in Ghana for their produce.
The Bemcom mushrooms have now attracted large number of the youth to engage in the mushroom production which is the fastest earning business with little capital.
Every year, they train over 500 unemployed youth at Bemcom farms. The areas include; Beekeeping, Snails Grasscutter, Rabbit and Quail rearing. Others are; Artificial Insemination in pigs and other agricultural activities.
Justice Kwasi Tedeku who has just been graduated at Bemcom training centre described the facility as the choice for the unemployed to seek job opportunities.
The Director of Bemcom training centre, Bernard Bempah says, his aim is to get more people on board to produce large quantities of dried and powdered mushroom for export to the USA.
In every month, they organize a workshop for new clients at affordable prices with certificate and handouts.
The director, Bernard Bempah is pleading with the government, individuals and NGOs to aid Bemcom training centre to become one of the best job training facility to create more job opportunities for the unemployed.
