The vice chairman of the progressive cashew association of Ghana, Nana Ameyaw Manu has said the cashew business in Ghana has been a failure due to the inconsistent prices.
He said cashew was buying at 7 cedis for a kilo in January, 2021 but has now reduced to 5 cedis.
Nana Ameyaw Manu speaking to the Nkyeremu News team in Tuobodom of the Bono east region explained further that, since the price of cashew is always determined by the foreigners hardly will the farmers .gain anything from their labour.
Nana Ameyaw Menu who is a farmer, sole buying agent of cashew and also the founder of the Techiman Wonders Football Club says, he knows the consequences that the cashew farmers go through before harvesting their seeds for sales. He says the expenses been made before harvesting make cashew farming unattractive venture.
Nana Ameyaw Manu has pleaded with the government to fix a price for cashew within the shortest possible time in order not to kill the cashew business which employs thousands of Ghanaians.
