The NALAG regional secretary in the Bono region, hon Ansu Kumi has pleaded with the government to issue a white papers to the Parliament to review their two years term in office.
Hon Ansu Kumi said this during his interview with the Nkyeremu news team after their training of trainers’ workshop been held at Tyco City in Sunyani.
He explained further that, both the MPs and the Assembly Members are being mandated for 4 years term in office. He said it doesn’t sound well as elected presiding members who steer the affairs of the assemblies are been mandated for only 2 years in office.
Hon Ansu Kumi says the constitution that mandated their two years term in office needs to be revised without further delay to 4 years.
He says they play very vital roles in governance but their allowances and condition of services are been undermined.
Hon Ansu Kumi says it is burden to spend their personal money for emergency situations without refund.
Indeed, the Bono east regional minister, in her address lauded the significant roles of the unity committee members. She charged on them to do more. She says, their visit to their communities should be regular and not only at political year.
Hon Justina Owusu Banahene pleaded with the hon members present to put into practice their workshop training skills.
