Health Providers To Lose Their Accreditation By Claiming Unauthorized Fees

The Director of the National Health Insurance Authority in the Bono East region, George Oppong Danquah has signaled to suspend the accreditation of any health providers who charge unauthorized fees from their clients.

He said this during his interruption with Nkyeremu News at their end-of-year review meeting. The NHIA regional director, George Oppong Danquah says, they had received enough information and will soon start an interdiction exercise in the Bono East region.

He says the few who intend to blackmail the good image of the NHIS will rather go for the early shower. He was on point that, some health providers charge unauthorized fees from pregnant women who are supposed to enjoy free medical care.

He says they are all noted and will soon be denied from the NHIS accreditation. George Oppong Danquah says the successes of the NHIS started from the Bono East region and will be the first to lead in any serious action for others to emulate.

He says, 99% of the health attendants are all NHIS active members showing clearly that, Ghana’s health insurance is in good form.

The NHIS director, George Oppong Danquah is urging all NHIS members to report any health providers who charge drugs on their list to the nearest NHIS office for immediate action.
