The football legend, Christian Atsu was today given the remarkable and historic funeral and burial ceremony in the Accra State House forecourt. The history behind the late Christian Atsu’s lifetime in the sport, both local and international levels, deserved the climax ceremony we witnessed.
The foreign dignitaries and Ghanaians, including the president of Ghana, Nana Akufo Adoo with the vice president, Dr Bawumia, and the former president, John Dramani Mahama, and his in-laws from the UK including Ghanaian footballers tell Christian Atsu has left behind a legacy that all have to emulate. The Liberian president, George Oppong Weah also attended the one-week celebration in Accra.
The successes of the late Christian Atsu in football, and his humanity towards the needy, family, and friends were fantastic, he put the smiling faces of many widows and less-endowed people.
His body has since been flown to his hometown Ada for a befitting separate burial. The funeral celebration continues in Accra
