One of the most challenging NPP presidential aspirants, Hon John Kwadwo Kyeremanten, a former Minister of Trade and Industry, has made suggestions on working with the private sector to finance national infrastructure growth. This is a new direction in Ghana, he said.
The policy will lessen the load on the federal government in terms of financing infrastructure. He said this during a stakeholder interaction with certain private sector business owners. On June 13, 2024, the summit took place at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel.
Building a Strategic Partnership between the Government and Private Sector for Progress and Prosperity Through the Great Transformational Plan (GTP)” was the meeting’s theme.
According to the former Minister of Trade and Industry, the GTP will help Ghana transition from stability and growth to transformation by fostering a more self-sufficient economy.
He also advocated for greater support for regional businesses in his proposal.
Speaking to his guests, Mr. Kyerematen emphasized some GTP components, such as reducing inflation, and maintaining a stable currency because the performance of the cedi has deteriorated, leading to high living expenses and a new agricultural revolution.
When he eventually becomes president of our beloved country, Ghana, he claims that his administration will vigorously support export diversification, value addition, and import substitution programs under the industrial transformational agenda as well as enhance funding to SMEs.
Business owners, chief executives, and managing directors from the nation’s private sector were present.
The respective presidents of the Private Enterprise Federation, Nana Osei Bonsu, the Association of Ghana Industry (AGI), Dr. Ayim Darke, the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Clement Amoako, the Association of Small Scale Industries, Alhaji Mumin Saeed, and the Vice President of GUTA, Mr. Clement Boateng are among the private sector leaders who attend the business meeting with Alan Kyerematen.
Presidents of the Ghanaian Automobile Assemblies Association and the Association of Garment and Apparel Manufacturers Mr. Jeff Oppong Preprah and Ms. Nura Salifu respectively.
