The last-minute failure of Vice President, Dr Bawumia at the Super TESS 60th Grand Durbar anniversary celebration was heartbreaking and can not be forgotten in our time. The surprise is that the vice president Dr. Mahammund Bawumia had accepted the invitation to the 60th anniversary and compelled the school to write down his speech, which was done.
It is surprising that no government official was able to explain why the vice president, Dr. Bawumia failed to honour the invitation. Super TESS student body, the teaching staff, the school administration and the traditional chiefs of Techiman saw this as deceit, disgraceful, unfortunate and heartbreaking to the Super TESS administration and the Techiman Traditional Area.
The CEO of the Ofa K Agro-Chemical, Ofa Addo a member of the Super TESS Old Students Association speaking to the nkyeremu news said, that the 40th, 50th, and 60th anniversaries of the school, they invited the then sitting presidents but none of them honoured their invitations. He said it was unacceptable for the minister of education, Hon Osei Yaw Adutwum who was the main speaker of the occasion also failed without any notification.
The spokesperson of the old student association, Ofa Addo says, the sitting presidents always fail to honour the invitations when the Bono regions mark their anniversary celebrations, however, they attended schools of their choice.
Ofa Addo explained that, if the president had visited the school, he could have identified the bad roads of the school and the dangerous entrance to the school which had claimed several lives.
The Bono East regional minister, Hon Adu Gyan who stood in for the vice president, couldn’t explain why the vice president failed to honour the invitation. The vice president failed in person, but the Bono East minister presented 50,000 Ghana cedis on behalf of the vice president, In addition, the MCE of Techiman Hon Benjamin Garko and his colleagues who are all old students of the school donated 2,000 cedis. The minister, Hon Adu Gyan has promised to provide a 12 WC mechanised washroom for the boys.
Ofa Addo was one of the key players in the organization of Super TESS colourful 60th-anniversary celebration. He has more about the vice president’s failure to honour his invitation without reason.
