Gone are the days when snails and palm nut soup were for any ordinary home. The destruction of land cover and illegal galamsey are the key factors in losing all animals in the forest. The situation is not different when it comes to our rivers, where people used to fish and feed their families for free.

We have to blame our traditional leaders and the politicians who champion all these illegalities.

In some restaurants, a snail is sold at 20 and 30 cedis, perhaps in the big cities the selling price will be higher. How can ordinary people buy this for home consumption?

Hunters who used their simple guns to hunt for animals have not become pale-venture. Snails were being hunted in every rainy season but today no! Mushrooms are no longer due to the excessive use of agrochemicals. Where is Ghana driving to?

It is sad, the next generation will have nothing to boast of. We have to blame our leaders for these challenges.
