The Guinness World Record for longest singing marathon breaker, Afua Asantewaa Aduonum has said, at some point, she was being messed up and couldn’t identify the very day that she was performing. She thanked her maker, the Almighty God, her team and the fans whose inspiration helped her to sing for 126 hours.
Clad in the national flag of Ghana and speaking in a raspy voice, she expressed her gratitude to the assembly of admirers in Accra. The 33-year-old mam was worn out and could hardly recall the day. Don’t also forget that making every big mark is accompanied by risk-taking.
She broke the previous record for the longest sing-a-thon over 21 hours, starting on Christmas Eve, but she still has to wait to find out if her efforts will be recognized formally.
Ms. Asantewaa performed for 126 hours and 52 minutes, according to the organizers. Guinness World Records stipulated that she could take a five-minute break every hour or twenty minutes after four hours.
Entrepreneur and former beauty queen Mrs. Asantewaa, speaking in a croaky voice, expressed her hope that the marathon “would be an inspiration to all women… to come out of your comfort zone and try new opportunities… when you put your mind to it, you can achieve it”.
Particularly on Christmas Day, a lot of well-wishers were drawn in by the continuous crooning. Some of the biggest music performers in the nation, like Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, and Sarkodie, were present. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice president, arrived together with a plethora of actors, actresses, and influencers.
They heard Ms Asantewaa cycle through 125 songs picked from the history of Ghanaian music across genres such as gospel, high-life and hip-life. It was all part of an effort to promote her country’s culture.
A DJ was on hand to play the backing track, but she could only pause singing within or between songs for less than 30 seconds. The crowds joined in, but Ms Asantewaa was performing behind clear glass so as not to be distracted by the noise.
The whole record attempt was filmed and there were also named witnesses who will submit a report to Guinness World Records.
She deserves your commendation too!!!!!
Nkyeremu News wishes you, Ayikooo!!!!!
