On February 6, 1945, Nesta Robert “Bob” Marley was born in Nine Mile, Jamaica. Bob Marley emerged as the single most influential reggae musician of all time, Robert (Bob) Nesta Marley was his birth name; Nesta Robert Marley was the version that was used then. Living with his mother, Cedella Booker, in Saint Ann, Bob Marley spent most of his formative years. Bob relocated to Trench Town in Kingston, Jamaica during his adolescent years. Poverty and violence-plagued Bob’s difficult childhood. He died at 36.

Pop sensation Michael Jackson was born on August 29, 1958, in Gary, Indiana. Jackson began performing with his four brothers in the pop group the Jackson 5 when he was a child. Jackson, the eighth child in the Jackson family, made his public debut in 1964 as a member of the Jackson 5 (later known as the Jacksons), along with his older brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, and Marlon. Jackson started working for Motown Records on his own in 1971. His 1979 album Off the Wall helped him become a solo sensation. He passed on at 50.

Yesterday, I came across an email stating that, until Jackson’s passing, Bob Marley was more well-liked in the non-white community than Michael Jackson. The email, which came from a local newspaper, did not specify whether anything had changed in the wake of Jackson’s passing. For obvious reasons, it did not provide statistics for the majority of Africa, where internet penetration is still rather low.

I thought both were kings in their own right, so to compare them was a little unjust to either of them, so I grinned when I received the email about all of this. Even while I’m delighted about it and think it was a fantastic twist to the whole Jackson story, I still think it is unfair to compare the two. That is, after all, what makes us Jamaicans joyful.

Firstly, let’s not forget that both are legends and that their white audiences adored them. The admiration of non-white audiences is likewise shared by both.

Bob Marley is the reggae music king. His allure is global, and millions have been inspired by his songs and continue to do so. He paved the way for others to follow and only started to earn the majority of his honours after passing away, which is regrettable for a man whose contributions served as inspiration for the Zimbabwean independence cause.

it is sad that legends never last, Jesus Christ was only 33 and was crucified In a similar vein, Michael Jackson ruled the pop world. He was also appealing to all people, and millions of people are still inspired by him. In numerous areas, such as music videos, he set new standards and removed obstacles that others had not been able to.

It is a fact that Micheal Jackson was able to entertain fans on the stage, while Bob Marley’s sons are loved by children, youth and old age people. They are still the best so far as music is concerned. The two legends have something in common, just like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Let’s give them the due respect that they deserve.

It is sad that legends never last, Jesus Christ was only 33 and was crucified. The South African city of Ermelo was the place of Philip Dube’s birth on August 3, 1964. He was reared by their grandma along with his two siblings. Young Dube started singing in Zulu while performing mbaqanga music. He was the best replacement for Bob Marley but was shot dead for no reason. He turned only 45.
