In a recent exposé dubbed the “Heaven Scandal,” which he shared on social media on Monday, October 2, 2023, the opposition Member of Parliament charged that the President and the Minister of Finance had approved the deal, which was led by the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL), behind the backs of lawmakers.

“President Akufo-Addo and Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta have approved the handover of our prime airport lands to a company called Heaven Builders Limited under the most shady of circumstances, on the blind side of Parliament and the Ghanaian people,” he claimed.

He mentioned that in 2022, in contact with the managing director of Heaven Builders, Mrs. Pamela Djamson-Tettey, the managing director of GACL, offered about 38.14 acres of the aforementioned land for a total cost of US$85,021,340.00.

“Under the Airport City Phase 2 Project, the GACL guarantees Heaven Builders an unbelievable sweetheart deal: if they agree to build some questionable infrastructure, like roads and drains, for a purported cost of US$85,021,340.00, they will acquire 38.14 acres of prime airport land near Kotoka International Airport.

The offer letter’s lack of an independent verification method to determine whether Heaven Builders’ claim that they have spent US$85 million in infrastructure is accurate is particularly instructive, the speaker said.

The MP pointed out that it was odd that the agreement did not explain how the alleged infrastructure cost was calculated, and that it is even more surprising that the GACL would not be permitted to raise its funds for the proposed construction.

According to documents released by Mr. Ablakwa as part of his exposé, the private corporation has made a counteroffer and is requesting twice the initial amount in exchange for comparable consideration.

Ghanaians would be even more dismayed to learn that Heaven Builders had made a counteroffer in a letter dated January 23, 2023, signed by Director Frank Owiredu-Affum, demanding more land, because this is a shady sweetheart deal that takes place behind closed doors. (A letter is included.)

Heaven Builders is now requesting an enormous 62.14 acres in exchange for the same benefits. This is nearly twice as much as what they were first given.

He said, “They’re also asking for the lease to be extended from 45 to 99 years.”

Mr. Ablakwa estimated that the property surrounding the Airport enclave is currently worth $4 million per acre on average, but he also pointed out that Heaven Builders has the opportunity to profit more than US$152 million from the deal at the state’s expense.

He went on to say that the controversy surrounding the deal has caused a clear rift among GACL’s management, with some managers fiercely pressing for the agreement’s approval and others strongly opposing it.

The MP claims that the managing director of GACL was once threatened with termination for allegedly trying to stall the transaction.

Stressing that the minority in parliament will seek an investigation into the agreement, he forewarned those in charge of the situation to get ready to defend their roles and deeds.

Another great example of creating, pillaging, and distributing is the Heaven Scandal.

Leading figures in the ruling NPP have been vocally denouncing the shocking levels of theft, robbery, and corruption that have become the unquestionable legacy of the buccaneer Akufo-Addo/Bawumia regime in recent days.

Alan Kyerematen has bluntly denounced the “unscrupulous apparatchiks” who have taken over the NPP and are wreaking havoc on Ghana.

In a now-viral video, Kennedy “Showdown” Agyapong is heard bemoaning the way the “NPP is looting Ghana as if there is no tomorrow.”

The most recent exposé, The Heaven Scandal, unquestionably validates the high-ranking NPP insiders’ public confessions, but it also highlights the terrible fact that should Ghanaians fail to demand an end to the looting, there will be no more of a nation.
